This project is a long time in the making. After a year of research and discussion with members of the adoptee community, witnessing controversy after controversy in the entertainment industry when it came to telling adoptee stories, it became clear that a project that consolidated and highlighted the many important conversations adoptees have been having about our plight of misrepresentation, was necessary. However, production isn’t free! This project requires monetary investment to make this into a reality.
Equipment & Crew Costs
Equipment costs include but are not limited to transportation, purchasing hard drives for data storage, camera and audio recording equipment rentals, meals for crew and interview subjects, and recording software (Riverside FM subscription) for conducting online video interviews. Most of our crew is generously donating their time and resources at no charge in order to support this passion project. Donated funds will go toward crew reimbursement and covering additional crew hiring such as camera operator and sound recordists / boom operators, production assistants, producers, and more to document adoptee community events and panel discussions.
Meals & Craft Services
An underrated production cost, it’s always been incredibly important to me that everyone is fed healthy and adequate food on set. Donations will fund meals, beverages, and craft services to ensure that both crew members and interview subjects unique dietary needs are fully met.
Transportation & Accommodation
The adoptee community is both uniquely individual and fundamentally global. Most interviews will be conducted in and around NYC, however, being that many interview subjects are based in California in and around Hollywood and the west coast film industry, donations will fund transportation and accommodation costs for crew to travel to conduct interviews on the west coast. Conducting interviews in person allows for the most compelling and effective storytelling opportunities. Funds will potentially allow for conducting international interviews, research, and documentation as well.
